ಸಕಲೇಶಪುರ ಹಾಸನ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಒಂದು ತಾಲೂಕು ಕೇಂದ್ರ. ಇದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ೨೩೦ ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಮಲೆನಾಡು - ಇದು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಘಟ್ಟಗಳ ಎತ್ತರದ ಶಿಖರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ;ದಕ್ಷಿಣದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಇಳಿಜಾರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶ.

ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ನದಿ ಹೇಮಾವತಿ, ಮುಂದೆ ಇದು ಕಾವೇರಿ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಘಟ್ಟಗಳ ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ಕಾಡುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ವನ್ಯಜೀವ ಯಥೇಚ್ಛವಾಗಿದೆ.ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ಕಾಫಿ ತೋಟಗಳಿದ್ದು, ಮೊದಲ ಕಾಫಿ ತೋಟವನ್ನು ೧೮೪೩ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆ ಕಾಫಿ,ಎಲಕ್ಕಿ , ಮೆಣಸು ಮತ್ತು ಶುಂಠಿ.

Sakaleshpur town location is of considerable significance as it is on a ridge to running through the middle of Mysore plateau from west of south. The climate of the town is classified as wet tropical cold climate with two dry seasons with clear bright weather from December to February, summer season from March to May.

Sakaleshpura is heavy rainfall area. The south-west monsoon from June to september followed by North east monsoon october to november.

Sakaleshpura town has a cold climate with the maximum temparature of 32 degree Centigrade in april and lowest being 12 degree Centigrade in December and the rainy seasons from June to September and October to November coming one after the other.

Sakaleshpura is one of the rapidly growing tourist center. Famous for coffee and cardamom plantations and historical Munzarabad Fort.

The Town has Hemavathi river flowing around it. also there are some tanks, villages ponds and marshy wet lands, around the town. These ensure a high level of ground water table. Plantations and forest areas also contribute to wards a cool climate in the town.

Due to rapid urbanization and a high rate of population growth there is a high demand for land for housing and other amennities, which in turn has resulted in encroaching of several tanks and conversion of open spaces into residential sites. Thus with passing years both forest cover as well as extent of water bodies is coming down.
